Location and access
Mannheim sits at the junction of the A6, A656 and A659 and near the A5 and A61; Ludwigshafen is 10 minutes away across the Rhine bridges, Heidelberg 20, Karlsruhe 45 and Frankfurt 60 minutes. The main station is an ICE hub, and light rail lines run to Ludwigshafen, Heidelberg and Weinheim. Käfertal, Waldhof, Neckarau, Rheinau, Sandhofen and Friedrichsfeld offer parking for company vehicles, while parking in the city-centre grid is expensive.

Mannheim is cheaper than Heidelberg and the most important base on the Baden side for BASF shutdowns. For BASF we recommend Neckarstadt, Waldhof and Sandhofen near the Rhine bridge, for Daimler Truck Käfertal and Waldhof, for Roche Neuostheim and Feudenheim. For large BASF turnarounds we reserve allocations across the whole Rhine-Neckar area, so book 8 weeks ahead.
