Sylt is the largest North Frisian island and is linked to the mainland by the Hindenburg causeway. Cars reach the island only by car train. For contractors Sylt is the most expensive and logistically most demanding location in our entire portfolio.
Location and access
The car train departs from Niebuell and takes about 35 minutes to Westerland. Without your own vehicle you can travel by rail straight to Westerland. Niebuell is 40 kilometres east and Husum 90 kilometres south east.
Economy and construction sites
Hotel and catering businesses are the dominant employer and have their buildings refurbished in winter. Construction and trade firms on the island are permanently busy, because material and personnel have to be ferried across at considerable effort. Coastal protection and sand replenishment run every year.
Our tip for Sylt
The price range runs from 30 to 60 euros per person per night, the highest in our entire portfolio. Factor in the car train costs as well. For longer projects it pays to rent a whole flat for several months.

How does my company vehicle get to Sylt?
Only by car train from Niebuell. The journey takes about 35 minutes, and in high season you should allow for waiting times. The cost applies to each outward and return trip.
When is accommodation available on Sylt?
Mainly from November to March. In the summer season the island is practically fully booked and prices rise well above the range stated.
Do we pay a fee or commission?
No. Companies pay no agency fee. You only pay the agreed price for the accommodation, on one invoice from us with German VAT shown.
How fast do we get an offer?
Within 15 minutes your contact person replies with concrete proposals, Monday to Sunday. Arrivals on a Sunday or public holiday are exactly what we handle at short notice – call us or send a WhatsApp message in that case.
Can we extend or leave early?
Extensions are arranged on request as long as the property is free. If you leave early we only charge the nights used plus any cancellation fee agreed with the landlord. You receive a written confirmation.
